1) Try "/etc/init.d/freenet zap". Also, "/etc/init.d/anything", without arguments, will help you in the future. 2) Toad may be able to help you further in figuring out what's wrong so you can get it fixed. But even if he does, I'd suggest filing a bug report at bugs.gentoo.org.
