Hi all,

I have a question about how nodes insert data in Freenet.

My understanding is that when a node inserts data, data is stored in
each node along the insertion chain until the node with the nearest
key is reached. Along the way, each node's routing table is updated so
that the inserter is associated with the new key (this is from Ian
Clarke's 1999 white paper on Freenet)

It's the last part I don't understand. Shouldn't the node with the
nearest key (the one at the end of the insertion chain) be associated
with the key in each node's routing table? This would make it easier
for requests to locate data at the correct node and it would prevent
people from identifying the inserter.

Thanks,

Tony
