Dear colleagues,

If you receive this message, it means we've successfully switched
email list servers.

As many of you know, our old list server was problematic at best,
troublesome at worst. We have contracted with Sparklist.com to host
our email lists and trust that this will resolve some of the problems
which have plagued this list in the past.

There are a couple new features you should be aware of (particularly
if you have been a Digest subscriber to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
[EMAIL PROTECTED]).
Most importantly:

NEW LIST ADDRESS
The support email list is now located at:

                        [EMAIL PROTECTED]

email to the old addresses ([EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED])
will bounce back to you with a message that has the new list address.

Other changes:

1) The Newbies and Support lists have been combined.
No need for duplicate posts. We have merged and deduped the lists so
now all ebase users can see each post. This will reduce the load on
our moderators and hopefully reduce confusion of having to juggle
similar posts on two lists.

2) Subscription confirmation.
New subscribers will need to confirm their subscription (or
unsubscribe) request. This will hopefully eliminate accidental
subscriptions or unsubscribing.

3) Improved error handling.
Hopefully, no more "burps," repeats, or mail loops. Sparklist uses
state of the art email management software to better handle bounces,
mail loops, etc.

4) Digests that work.
Enough said.

5) Searchable online archive of list
Not a great interface, and so far none of the older (i.e. before this
message) messages are stored here yet. But from this point on, you'll
be able to research messages that have been posted on the list by
going to this URL:
http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support

6) Online subscription preference management
Find email commands too confusing? Use the web to manage your email
list account or to get help about commands supported by the email
list server: http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support

...and much much more <grin>

Let's hope this works! Thanks for your patience while we work(ed) to
resolve our list server problems.

The ebase team.
