Anybody using any of the various auto responders, vacation, out of the office, etc. programs need to make sure that they DO NOT respond at all to messages to list servers. I just made my first submision to the new ebase list server and got one auto response (nameless - offender has been notified). The potential is for users who submit mail to the list to get thousands of auto replies. This will quickly discourage anyone who replies to the questions to stop doing so. If people continue to abuse the system, I will ask that they be removed from the list. There are good, friendly auto response programs out there. Some are just plain broken, in particular almost all of the roll your own variety.
