1.    What is the difference between the NEWBIES and SUPPORT lists?

As of yesterday, they are combined, and the new list is named support. Note that posts to the combined list should be addressed to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 2.    Which one should I be sending questions to?

See above.

 3.    What is the passcode to enter Source Codes in the setup wizard?

You need this password to change the source code protocol (which is reached through admin screen 2). There is more detail in the ebase manuals.

 4.    How can I do a saved find with only email addresses?  I tried the data screen but I don't know what to put in the email field for the request.  Actually, I don't know how to save a find either or where to retrieve it from

FileMaker (and therefore ebase) doesn't save queries as separate documents like Access does. If you want to find everyone who has an email address, use and asterisk in the email field. You can save the search criteria in a script (see the Filemaker manual for more details).

 5.     In my notes when you were here I have that I should do a replace all find fields everyday.  Why and how?

Not sure who you are addressing, but I think I can answer the question. The script Replace All Find Fields is called from the Scripts menu. This updates the Fast Find fields at the bottom of the home screen. These fields are used to speed up searches and sorts, but don't update automatically as you enter new data. Check the ebase manuals for more detail.

 6.    Mailing labels are not formatting correctly.  The first four rows are aligned and the rest fall below the actual labels when they print.

Mailing labels are problematic because of the variety of printer drivers and printers. Go to layout mode and adjust the layout until it works. If you are using Avery 5160 or equivalent, you should have 1/2 inch at the top (header and margin combined) and exactly 1 inch high body part. See the FileMaker user manual for working with layouts.

 7.    When I enter the zip code the city doesn't  pull up so I have been doing them all manually.

The automatic lookup works only if you have data in the zipcode file from which ebase can look up the city, state, zip, area code, etc. There are directions in the ebase FAQ on the web site (www.ebase.org) for filling in the file from your current data.

 8.    Now for the glitches - When I do a find for various donor levels sometimes it puts the wrong people in the list.  I have checked to see that all info was entered correctly and it is.

Folks on the list will need more information to help you here. Exactly what are you entering in which field for the search. And exactly what are you looking for. And exactly how is the found set wrong.

 9.    You were right about the renewal dates coming up between 2002 - 2030 because the renewal years were entered wrong.  I have 5 that will not let me correct them renewal expiration date.  HELP!

Again, you are apparently directing this question to someone who may not be here. Please more detail.

 10.    When I create a letter in the wizard it only prints the name and address and not the body of the letter.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure; you haven't said enough about what you have done to tell what you might be doing wrong. We'll need more detail about what you have done to enter text into the letter, and which letter layout you used, etc.

 11.    When I go to print reports all the names are blank in the individual and household reports.  This is new because I have printed them before and the names were there.

Again, more detail. Which reports, how are you doing searches for the records to include in the report, etc.

We can't see your screen, and there are so many variables that it is very difficult to say what's going wrong unless you tell us in agonizing detail what you want to do, what you are doing to accomplish that, and what happens. This includes what dialog boxes show up, what they say, which option you click, etc., etc.,

Help us help you.
