Not at all an intrusion, welcome!

I have seen several situations where organizations have done similar
applications of ebase. The event-related data is usually not easy to
fit into any of the ebase files, so typically a separate
"reservations" file is created, related to the names file to get
access to the name-and-address info for registrants. Status of
registration, dietary requests, etc., is kept in the separate file.
Unless someone has done this specifically for a dinner, it's likely
you would put as much effort into customization on the file as you
would creating a new one.

So, it's possible. Maybe someone on the list can jump in if they have
an application for an event like this, otherwise, I'd suggest
recruiting someone in your area to help create a new file for your
organization and set up the relationship to the names file.
