well, that does explain some of the problem I'm having then.
I still haven't had the gumption to tell the board after my mess up a couple
weeks ago, in which I couldn't recover three or so files so I moved up to
103 in the hopes of making everything okay....that I do in fact need
Filmaker updated to 5 now.
What a mess. So this is why while importing a number of the fields are
grayed out?

Clarification - updating to v103 for users without FileMaker
While the bulk of the update to ebase v103 process described in the ebase
v103 administrators manual works as well in the runtime version, one step -
choose File, Define Fields - requires a full version of FileMaker. This
step is used to reset the Record Number counter. FileMaker does not
recognize the bulk importing of records and does not correctly increment the
Record Number. Without this step the database will create duplicate record
numbers when new Names are entered.
Users who do not have a full version of FileMaker should use the Import a
file into ebase utility on the Admin 2 Layout to import a file into Names
and Import Payments.
Note: To preserve your source code information, Prior to importing payments
you will need to re-create source code values in your ebase.103 system.
For more info: See Chapter 4 in the ebase.103 Administrator manual for
instructions on using Import a file into ebase to import and map fields.
