I don't see a way to do it with the existing field inventory. I could
see creating a new field, called say "Trend" that gives you a +1 if
the current year $ is more than any previous year, and -1 if
otherwise. There are summary fields that total yearly amounts back 5
years. You could combine all the comparisons into one calculated
field definition. You'd have to be cautious about interpreting this,
though, since at the turn of the year all the fields would be -1
until the checks started coming in. Maybe compare last year (instead
of the current year) to all the previous years.
