Todd & Sarah:
I just went through the same question/problem because every quarter I need
to run counts of how many address changes I've made. Here's what I found out.
Open ebase with the "master" password and go to the "Data Entry" tab.
Click on "View" and then "Layout Mode". On the left side of the screen,
grab the "Field" button and drag an empty field onto a blank space on your
layout. When you have your field where you want it and release the mouse
button, a list of "Defined Fields" will appear. They are listed
alphabetically and one of them is called "CONTACT INFO EDIT DATE". Choose
it and then click OK. You now have a field that shows the date the last
change was made to name, address, telephone or whatever and can find
records with a specific date or in a date range.
I was told that ebase adds this date automatically whenever a change is
made but that the field is hidden and does not normally show on the file
layout you see. This date seems to change only when changes are made to
addressess, etc. -- not when a new gift is entered (I experimented a bit to
find that out) -- but I'm still new at this myself so don't take my word as
the final answer to that. If I'm wrong about that, someone please tell us.
I hope this helps. I wish the manuals had more step by step help with
specific questions like this.
