The import field order is embedded in the script "Import from data
file" which is called when you click the button to import a file on
the Admin screen. You could change the import order by performing the
import once using FileMaker's import tool, then open the script to
edit, then close it. You would see a dialog box asking if you want to
Keep or Replace the import order. You would replace it.
Of course, you would need to first create the fields in the import1
file, corresponding to the custom fields you have in the names file,
and also change the script which imports the data from import1 to
names.
This all sounds very complicated, and be assured that it is. If you
are doing the import only a few times, I would import your data to
the User Fields in Import1 and Names, then use FileMaker's Calculated
Replace function to transfer the data to your custom fields.
