Well, I was sitting here waiting for the gentleman to come in and put a scsi adapter on the office PC so I can hook up the Zip drive and backup the database. I thought I would add some records to the database. I was careful to close out most other programs so I wouldn't freeze the system requiring another hard restart. I went to delete a record from the database and got an error message, "FileMaker Pro caused a page fault.....", closed it out, got another one and closed that one out. Then got a message that the names file was damaged. Since I don't yet have a backup, I tried the Recovery command. I remember having to use it a while back on the Mac, and to my recolection, it had worked. It didn't work this time.

My only good news is that I had exported the Names and the Payments to floppy disk before I started working on the database, just in case (better than nothing). Looks like I will have to reinstall ebase. (The tone of this email is probably much more neutral that I am feeling right now. I'm pretty upset.) I am hoping I can just import the Names Records and the Payments. I did choose both Legacy ID and Record Number when I exported. My question now is, how can I import all the Payment Records that correlate with the Name Records?

"The ebase import process assumes that your original data will get
re-numbered when it gets dumped into ebase, since there is no reason
to assume that your original data will be compatible with the numbers
in ebase (unique, primarily). So your source file record number gets
put into Legacy ID and ebase re-assigns numbers based on the Legacy
ID in the names file."

Sounds like I have to choose the Legacy ID when importing the payments. Which will change all the record numbers again? Not preferable, but I can live with it. Is this true or is there a way to import without changing all the record numbers?

Thank you for your help.
