Occasionally, heavy traffic on the internet will cause an unusual
number of undeliverables. There are two things you might do. One is
to resend each of the messages to the addressee to see whether it
bounces again. If it does, the problem is with the address.
Alternatively, you might send a "test" message to the same list to
see if you get the same results. The subject line would read
"test-please delete."
Inspect the addresses on the returns to see if there is anything
unusual about them. It seems unlikely they would have become
corrupted--but . . .
We maintain several important mailing lists--not on ebase. We keep
the undeliverables for awhile and, before each mailing to the list,
we check the undeliverables file to see if any of them have bounced
for three consecutive mailings. If they have, we remove them from our
list and, if the addressee is important to us, we try to get a
corrected address from them.
