Hey Holly-

That's what we do.  Our DSL office (which is currently dialing-up because 
Capitol Hill is at maximum capacity for DSL!) normally hosts FMPro Server 
(which is a service for Windows NT) on our NT server.  Then the field staff 
with dial-up connections open FMPro on their desktops and find the host by 
typing in our static IP address.  No need to publish to the Web, but you do 
need a Windows NT server.  It isn't super-speedy (the initial opening of 
the database takes several minutes), but it is better than emailing the 
database (which would take a lot longer than that).
