Sounds to me as if you have somehow mis-named a copy of the names
file. The script that takes you to the home screen from payments is
pointing to this odd file. You should definitely stop entering data
until you get this sorted out.

Here's something to try. Look for a file called r.102 somewhere on
your machine, likely in the ebase directory, and throw it out. Enter
a dummy payment, and when you attempt to jump back to home, ebase
will probably ask you where r.102 is, and give you a Findfile dialog
box. Navigate to your names_.102 file. If you're lucky, that will fix
the problem. Close ebase, start it up again, and see if the payment
entry process works. If not, it probably makes sense to restore the
ebase file set from your most recent backup.

If you do go back to the backup, check that there is no file in the
ebase directory called r.102. If there is, go to an older backup
until you get one that's right.
