What do you mean by "they show up on the home screen?" In the
summaries? Or do you mean in the screen you get when you click the
Payments tab at the top of the screen?
Here's a guess. Payments will show up in one of the three columns in
the View Payments screen only if the value of Payment For field is
one of the three default values, Dues, Contribution or Event
Purchase. If it's anything else, the payment will be in the payments
file, but not get included in the View Payments screen or any of the
summaries.
