Title: source code sorting
Otis, I am fascinated by your response below. I also would prefer to sort by the actual code rather than the code description. I tried to do what you did, went under define value lists, selected source code/description, specify and chose the first field. But when I went back and looked at my source codes, they are still in the very same order. I tried quitting filemaker and reopening it, but still nothing...any idea as to what am I missing?
Thanks,
Amy

The Source Code value lists are calculated and the only way I found that I could put some order to them was to open the source code/descrip value list, click on the
corresponding Specify button and then decided how you want the list sorted by choosing either radio button on the bottom of the dialog box.
Sorting by the first field results in an alphabetical (numerals first) list of your source codes with their descriptions.
Sorting by the second field results in a list that is sorted by your descriptions of your source codes alphabetical list (numerals first).
I prefer the first sort...
