There are a couple of ways to handle this, depending on what you want
to do, and what resources are at your disposal.
Easy, no customization - Post participation in the event as an Action
record. Pledges and payments get recorded in the appropriate file,
with source codes and notes in the pay memo field to attach the
records to the event. This can be done without FileMaker, but might
not record all you want to about the event.
More complex, requiring FileMaker and some knowledge of databases -
Add an additional file to the ebase file set, for event registration.
You can use this for recording registration in the event, whether
they paid a registration fee, the size t-shirt they need, etc.
Payments would still get recorded in the ebase payments file, but you
can save event-specific info in the new file.
