Title: Re: [support] backing up and reinstalling files on a n
Help
I am trying to install a copy of my membership records on a new database by fist copying my e-base files on my old computer by utilizing a CD burner, and then reinstall the copied files on my new database.
I have been dragging my complete e-base file and copying it but when I attempt to reinstall the data, I get a message stating that the data is write-protected and unable to be modified.  How do I copy my files so that I can reinstall them on the new database.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little puzzled by your saying "install a copy of my membership records on a new database". I will presume that you're just trying to copy the ebase files from one machine to the other.

When you write files to a CD using a Windows system, the files get marked as read-only. To make them read/write, and therefore useful, right-click each file and select Properties. In the Properties dialog, uncheck the box labeled Read-Only. You'll have to do that for each of the 29 files in the ebase file set.
