Well, since  the obvious is out of the way, help us with some more 
information. (And yes, the more information you provide in the 
original post, the quicker we'll get to the right answer.) I presume 
the "ebase" you discarded from the desktop was a shortcut to 
ebase.103 in the ebase directory, and shouldn't cause any trouble. 
Look at the ebase directory using Windows explorer, and confirm that 
there is a file in the directory called ebase.103. That's the startup 
file that is essential to launching the system. The file ebase.exe is 
the runtime application and should be discarded if you're running 
FileMaker.

If it's missing, find another copy (from a new or archived 
installation, for example).
