Victoria, I suggest the following to lock up those fields from data entry changes. First you login to Ebase using the Master password. This allows you to place entry screens in LAYOUT mode. You will also require a full copy of FileMaker Pro. 1. Move to the screen (layout) where you want to 'Lock' entry. 2. Select VIEW | LAYOUT to place the screen in layout design mode. 3. Select the field to lock. 4. Either select FORMAT | FIELD FORMAT... or RIGHT CLICK with the cursor placed on the field to lock and select FIELD FORMAT.. from the POP UP menu displayed. 5. UNCHECK the 'ALLOW ENTRY IN FIELD' check box located in the 'BEHAVIOUR' section of the Format Field window. 6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for the other fields you want to LOCK. 7. Then return to BROWSE mode by selecting VIEW | BROWSE. 8. Repeat steps 1 - 7 on each of the other layouts where fields require locking. That should do it and protect you from unwanted changes to legacy information. Just remember to document you changes and where they were applied so you can change it back at a later date.
