When I'm looking at the Home or Data Entry screens, at the very top of my screen it reads "FileMaker Pro - [names_.102]. When I click on Payments, am I now in the Payments file, even though it still says [names_102] at the top? I never leave [names_102], it seems, when i'm working in Ebase, true? -----Original Message----- From: Dave Shaw [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2001 4:18 PM To: TechRocks Support Subject: [support] Re: another ? on finding '00 donors >thanks. But I was searching for any >0 value in the "Last year total" box on >the Payments screen, which is a sum of contributions in '00,a $ amount, not >how many times they gave, yes?. So, am still perplexed why this is finding >more folks than doing the same on the Home screen using the "Last year $" >box. Thanks for your help! Regardless of the field you searched, the result is a list of _payments_ that satisfy your search criteria. Your search for the summary field (which lives in the names file) while in the payments file gives you startling results. Your search was in effect for "payments whose related name record had >0 in the last year$ field". Note that if an individual had three payments in 2000, $100, $50, and $25, the Last Year $ field will show $175 in each of those payment records, since each payment record is related to the same name record. So your search for >0 in the payments file will find all three payment records, not a single name record. If you do the same search in the names file, you will find only the single name record.
