It's a little more complex. This field is defined with a validation 
criterion, that data must be a member of the value list "Listservs 
List".  - that is, FileMaker warns you when a value is entered that 
does not appear on the list. My guess is that you have deleted 
entries from the value list. Deleting values from the list doesn't 
affect current data - it just changes the values presented as option. 
You probably have records which have values in that field which have 
been deleted from the value list, and whenever you try to modify that 
field in records with deleted values, Filemaker warns you that the 
old values are there.

You can look at the index for that field by selecting that field and 
striking Cmd (Ctrl on Windows) - I. This will show you all the values 
in this field in all records. This should match the value list.
