Cecily,

Create related records does just that, it will create records for the
current individual in certain related files. When you add a name (using
the Add Name button), ebase automatically creates records for that
individual in three additional files (besides what you see in the Names
file). These are the Summary, Profile and Custom files, and ebase needs
these records entered to function properly.

If you add new records using the Filemaker Add record menu item, these
related records won't be created. If you try to do certain things with
any record improperly entered, ebase gives you a warning that this
record was improperly added and needs these related records. You should
run this script any time you get this message.

The same thing can happen if you import records without using the ebase
import routine. Using the Filemaker import routine (for instance, if
you are "upgrading" to an uncorrupted copy of ebase after a crash and
doing so directly instead of through the ebase import routine), you only
create the records in the file you are working in. When this happens,
you need to add related records for each of the records imported.

The Check for related records script checks every record in the Names
file and creates the related records for any that don't have them. This
is a much easier way to "correct" records that were imported or added
incorrectly. When done, every record will have the proper related
record. This script can take some time to run, though, so I don't
recommend using it unless you know you need it. For example, if you
recently did an import as described above, or if you frequently get the
warning to "create related records," you should run the "Check for
related records" script.

Got it?
