Yes, the coding is MUUUUCCCCHHH more complex in V2, in part, I think, because it has to do so much more. The coding is crucial to using the database in V2, and for that reason, it really is important to set up your coding carefully from the start. That isn't to say you won't be able to revise it at a later date, but things will work much more smoothly in the future if you're careful from the start.
The coding will also result, I think, in a lengthy and complex Log, or activity history for each record, and that means you and all your users will likely need to be much more familiar with the codes. These considerations are part of why I advise folks I work with to choose carefully when deciding to use version 2. There are distinct advantages to V2, but there are drawbacks too, complexity being one.
