To all,

I've developed a Perl program (a small one... about 250 lines) which allows
a one-click backup of Ebase files to a designated and clearly named WinZip
file. The program also writes a record of a backup to a separate file, so
that a complete history of backups performed using the program is
maintained. That record can then be viewed/edited with any text
editor. It is possible to set up a shortcut which runs the backup, making
backup a very easy process.

I developed this script to address problems I've seen with several Ebase
users who eventually ended up with several copies of Ebase on their
computers and then had problems when they started using the wrong copies
for data entry, etc. Because this program IMMEDIATELY places the backup
files in a WinZip archive, this problem is avoided.

Also, in my tests, the backup is about 30% the size of the original Ebase
files.

I'd be happy to share this program with anyone who feels it might benefit
them. Just contact me if interested...

To run this script, you'll need to install SOME version of Perl (available
free), and you'll need to have a licensed copy of WinZip with the command
line add-on installed (WinZip costs about $20).
