No, it's probably just taking the small subset of ebase users with OS X some time to figure out what might be happening. The first thing that strikes me is that Classic mode is having trouble communicating with OS X to get the value of Creator Name for the auto-enter field Added By. I'd be interested in hearing from other version 1 users on OS X about this issue. The names, payments, contacts and other files have the same field, with an auto-enter value, but do not specify that it's a required value. You could take a look at the Add By fields in new records in these other files (on the All Fields layout) to see if it's blank.
