Title: Re: [support] instructions for upgrading from 1.0 to 1
The ebase 1.03 manuals don't appear to be available on the ebase Web site right now, so I could I trouble someone to repost the instructions for upgrading from ebase 1.0 to 1.03?

Jon, I'll attach the admin manual to a separate message. It's the 103 manual so the upgrade instructions are for moving from 102 to 103, but your case should be substantially the same. But also, here is a message Larry Bednar posted a couple of weeks ago about a resource that might make the move easier.

I've recently been impressed with how needlessly confusing it can be to do a completely manual transfer of data from a damaged set of Ebase V1.0.2 files into a newly installed set of
Ebase V1.0.3 files.  There are SOOO many manual steps to remember...

So I've tried to create a "system" to assist in doing this with less pain, less chance for errors, etc. I'm happy to share what I've put together to anyone who may benefit, so long as I get feedback and input about the "system" as a kind of "payback"....

The "system" I've developed includes:

1.  A very SLIGHTLY modified set of V1.0.3 files each with a single additional script to import data from a parallel V1.0.2 database file in a nearby directory.

2. A FileMaker database which provides an explanation of the tasks needed, a series of "checkboxes" to help you keep track of where you are in the process, a script that clears all the check boxes if you have to start again, and a script that runs the new "import" scripts in each of the modified V1.0.3 files listed in item 1 above.

In my own trials here today, this has been a BIG improvement over the experiences I've had doing the same tasks WITHOUT this assistance.  I completed a complete transfer of all records from a 5-6000 record Ebase database into a fresh set of V1.0.3 databases in about 8 minutes, and it was a relatively sure procedure.  I never had the concern that I'd missed some critical step, which is my usual anxiety.

Even though my first wish is that noone ends up in a circumstance where they NEED something like this, my fallback is that I hope this tool will help get folks through this type of circumstance with less anxiety and worry when they DO need it.

Again, I'm happy to share this with anyone who can benefit....just contact me for a copy...
