I sounds like you are trying to rewrite past history. If you do what you say
you want to do then someone who in the past was a major donor by the old
rules will not be by the new rules. It is sort of like raising the prices on
an item and then changing old invoices which used the old price (no
accountant would approve of doing that). You want to think about what use
you will make of older data. If you query by the amounts you will get one
answer, if you query by the levels you will get a different answer.

So in a sense you have lost data in that if you recompute all the levels,
you will no longer know that someone used to be a higher level than they are
now. However it is not lost data in the sense that you could go back to the
old level definitions and recompute again.

Look in the archives because I know this has been discussed.
