>I note that the Admin manual for ebase 2.0/2.01 (p.85) mentions that printer >drivers for HP LaserJet 5 and above are incompatible with either ebase or >Filemaker. > >Is that meant to imply that HP LaserJet printers (5 and newer) aren't >supported, or don't use a LaserJet driver that isn't meant for your printer, >or what?
FileMaker doesn't play well with the HP LaserJet 5 driver. There's a technical note on the FileMaker site and an FAQ on the ebase support area that deal with it. Here's a quote: We have found that if you're running Windows (3.1, 95, 98 or NT) and using an HP LaserJet 5 printer (or greater) that this combination has caused ebase to crash. Filemaker (hence ebase) has some well-documented problems dealing with this printer compatibility problems that and can cause the system to crash. FileMaker says the version 4 driver is much more stable, and recommends installing the version 4 driver. -- -- Dave Shaw H4 Consulting tel: 206-954-7526 fax: 206-625-1338 ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
