The ebase files are interlinked in so complex a fashion that it is impossible to restore only one file and expect it to work. You will need to abandon the current damaged file set. The quickest and simplest option is to restore from your latest backup. There is another more complicated option, and whether it is worth pursuing depends on how much work would be lost by reverting to your backup. It is possible to gain access to the data in the damaged file by running the FileMaker recover procedure on summary and whatever other files have been damaged. Then migrate the data to either a new ebase file set, or if yours is extensively modified, to a backup set which you have cleared of data. Migrating the data consists of importing data from each from each file of the damaged file set into the corresponding file of the new (or emptied backup) file set. One key step is to re-set the auto-enter index on serial number fields in the files which have serial number fields. If that last step is not clear, you should get someone to help who knows enough about FileMaker to transfer the data without digging a deeper hole. And last, you should review your backup protocol. -- -- Dave Shaw H4 Consulting tel: 206-954-7526 fax: 206-625-1338 ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
