Looks to me as if the script will do exactly as you describe, mark
all of the email addresses for research if any of them are invalid.
Here's what I think will fix it.
- Open ScriptMaker and select for editing the script "291c - Check E1 For Set".
- The 7th step is a calculated Replace command, replacing the value
of the field Research? with
If( Position( RESEARCH?, "Email 1", 1, 1) > 0,
   RESEARCH?,
  RESEARCH? & "" & "Email 1")

Change this to
If(Email1 BlankOrValid? and EMAIL 1 <> "", RESEARCH?, If( Position(
RESEARCH?, "Email 1", 1, 1) > 0,
   RESEARCH?,
  RESEARCH? & "" & "Email 1"))

Instead of adding "Email 1" to the field Research? if it isn't
already there, this calculation add it only if it is not already
present, and if Email 1 is blank or valid.

Check this calculation with the tests you ran and see if it does what
you expect. Please post a confirmation to the list if it works, so
others will know to make this correction.
