The 10.x.x.x is a private class A network, and most (all?) wireless providers use private networks with a distant gateway that routes traffic once the IP's are resolved. Nameservers can be on a private network and resolve public names. Any IP address is routable if it's used in proper context. Protocols like NetBIOS are not (unless it's encapsulated within TCP/IP).

That add on plan is around $20/mo, but any limited data plan would cost me thousands as I would always go over the limit, and then it's 5 cents per K.... when I'm using around 90M(?) (bill says 90,836 (KB/MB) ???) of data, I would be in serious trouble. When I connect, my ppp0 IP address is 10.x.x.x with nameservers on the 172.x.x.x private subnet, and my gprs works perfectly, however I've had problems with the SHR connect/disconnect python script, so I made my own based on the wiki. (love being able to download TangoGPS map tiles when I'm on the road. :) ) -Laura _______________________________________________ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support
