I have an old Dell Precission w/ PCI-X slots and use the Intel (PCI/PCI-X) quad 10/100/1000 card (I have two working flawlessly w/ 0.74.8) that's my reccomendation - stick w/ intel on many/multi homed (more than 2-3 NICs) boxes.
