Now that I've read some docs, I know how to ask my question properly :)

I wanted to know if pfSense is able to act as a vtp server. Since I don't find 
any standalone software package that would offer this functionallity, I guess 
the answer is no. But this is still just a minor inconvenience, as it means I 
have to keep track of two vlan databases - one on pfSense and one on my switch.
