I've seen this comment a couple of times. Is there a fix allowing
FTP
clients from lan to connect to a server on the internet?

FTP had issues in b1, try B2-BVE3.
http://pfsense.org/~sullrich/BETA2-BUGVALIDATION3/

FTP works for me with 1.0-PREBETA2-BUG-VALIDATION-EDITION3 *except*
for my 1:1 mapped host. There it only sorta half-works. Passive
mode doesn't work at all, and some remote servers report things like
unimplemented command. You can see them by connecting to
ftp.freebsd.org (particularly 62.243.72.50 and 204.152.184.73)

The most painful part is that the freebsd command "fetch" doesn't
work at all from this server, whereas it works just fine on every
other freebsd server here. It makes installing ports "fun".

I've had similar issues. I tracked it down to a wireless card in bridged mode i had installed, but the culprit appears to be the ftpsesame process. dunno why yet...
