I've been having several ongoing problems; passive FTP into the DMZ, logging of pass packets yet I have no logging turned on, and the latest is routing from my internal SMTP server to the external SMTP server. The latest just stopped working for about an hour yesterday, the mail server when ran in debug would get a connection after about 2 minutes, and then not be able to send anything. After a few reboots, and 15 minutes of trying to figure out what was wrong, it just started working; no changes made by myself for the previous 20 minutes.. Yes, just started, a queue run just happened to clear the queue much to my surprise. FTP has worked sporadically with no pattern I've noticed, and yesterday I had to manually add a pass rule for the passive port ranges to get it working. I've had to abort using pfsense on our firewalls at work due to these issues; m0n0wall is now installed on one of them and it will be swapped in this morning though it doesn't recognize the hdd in the boxes as they are SATA and they don't support CARP. I also have installed openbsd 3.9 on the hdd of the 2nd system and will get the ruleset working there to eliminate as it being any issues that it may be with the ruleset. It really saddens me that these issues are big enough to have myself and more importantly my boss lose confidence in pfsense's ability to function as a production capable firewall. I appreciate the effort from Scott in his help as well as a few others on the list.
