Can't comment on the d-link switch, but typically you have an access
port or a trunk port on a switch.  pfSense works as trunk port when
you define vlans.  All packets going out the interface in question
will be tagged with the appropriate vlan, and all inbound packets on
the interface _must_ also be tagged.
