The favicon.ico is there alright, but is not displayed -- at least not then using https protocol.
Looking at my URL history in IE, I can see the favicon for the http://192.168.192.9 URL while I was still setting the new pfSense PC up. Once I replaced the old Linux firewall with pfSense, I changed to https://192.168.192.1 and now the favicon is not displayed.
