Hello all,

Firstly, my apologies for comparing an archaic version to a recent
one. I was unable to find a high-level change-log for version that
stretch back to 1.0beta1 nor archived download images of those older
versions.

I have a specific machine that 1.0-beta1 boots and works on, but 1.0-
RC2 stops at the boot loader.

It is very hard to troubleshoot because this machine:
   - Has one serial port that is attached in a proprietary way to a
16x2 character LCD display
   - Has no video card/chipset

So, because of the above, I'm not quite able to see why it gets stuck
in the boot menu - I see enough text to indicate that is where it
is. To be clear, when I say boot menu I really mean the bootstrap
loader which has the option of a menu if you hit a key.

This just in (tested while this message was being composed): the very
last line of display says "'t load 'kernel". Which presumably means
it can't load its kernel. Now, I know that this media works because
if you use the HD in another machine ("normal" PC) it boots just fine
and works.

Sorry for the vague report, any ideas?

Please test a FreeBSD 6.1 CD and if you continue to have problems you
will need to send a message to freebsd-release. The changes between
those versions is the fact that we are now on FreeBSD 6.1 release.
