I have a setup at a customers location where the internal Hotel LAN is
connectet to the LAN of the pfSense. The Hotspotinterface is a VLANed
Accesspointinstallation (6 Aps) which only can go to the internet but
not to the LAN segment and don't have access to any config webguis. The
OPT-Interface runs cp against a radiusserver that is installed at the
checkin pc where they can generate tickets. The customer can buy hours
or days from the ticketsystem and gets a printout of a keycode. However
as this PC is a Windowsbox we don't use a free radius server for this
(didn't find a free one that supported accounting). Also the tool that
generates the users and the tickets was written by us and will only work
with this specific radius server.

Don't you have a client-pc that you can "abuse" as radius server?

Subject: [pfSense Support] limited time wireless access : charging
clients

hi all,

curious if anyone has implemented a way of limiting access to a pfsense
wireless hot-spot on a wrap platform -- client is a hotel and wants to
charge by day, week, or month.

with just an adsl and a wrap platform, i think i need to have a server
in internet space to do the authorizartion. anyone have any thoughts or
suggestions?

many thanks

charles
