Im testing pfSense at present and am having some problems setting up 1:1 NAT, basically I want an internal IP address to be mapped to a specific external IP address making it easier for us to track users in case of a compromised machine. I have tried using the 1:1 settings under the firewall tab however it does not seem to work, in fact it stops the machine accessing the internet. Could someone provide a step by step of how to set up 1:1 NAT ideally for a whole subnet.

You have to assign the additional IP's to the external interface somehow. Commonly this is done by setting up proxy arp aliases.
