pfSense uses FreeSBIE whereas m0n0wall does not. This means we are mounting a gzipped iso and there appears to be some edge cases with certain cd-rom devices where it simply does not work. I know you wan this specific hardware to work but all I can recommend is trying different cdrom hardware.

I got an old VA Linux 1000 box and I'd like to use it as a firewall box running pfSense, however it hangs when trying to boot off the cd. It is able to recognize the cdrom drive and seems to mount the filesystem but the system hangs. The last few lines of text from verbose mode: GEOM_LABEL: Label for provider acd0 is iso9660/pfSense. Trying to mount root from cd9660:/dev/iso9660/pfSense cd9660: RockRidge Extension start_init: trying /sbin/init Anyone have any ideas? I have tried 1.0.1 and the 12-23-2006 snapshot and neither of them work. However, I have tried m0n0wall 1.22 and 1.3b2 and those both work fine. m0n0wall 1.3b2 is based on FreeBSD 6.2 so I had hoped that the 12-23 snapshot would work but it does not. Is there anyone else running on a VA Linux box or an IBM 4000R? (Apparently they're the same hardware) I've looked through the forums/mailing list archives but so far nothing has worked. ________________________________ View Athletes' Collections with Live Search.
