Goodmorning,

I have a soekris 4801-60 and I'm running PfSense on it. It works great, the only thing is that the captive portal is very slow and I don't know what can solve it.

My setup: the Soekris has 3 ethernetports and one wireless mini-pci (atheros). Sis0 is the wan interface with a static ip from a /29 rang I own. The Sis1 interface is the lan interface with an internal ip. The lan2 interface is bridged with my wireless pci interface.

The problem is that wireless of just through ethernet the captive portal is very slow. It takes almost 20 seconds to show the page and when I have entered the login credentials it takes 30 seconds to be authenticated and load the website I was orgininaly going.

At first this seems like a dns problem, but I checked how fast adresses resolve on the Soekris box and that is perfect, also on the client. I tried to use as little options als possible so it isn't caused by a configuration error, I also disabled the wireless interface and the interface it has been bridged with.

I also tried the beta version of pfsense, but the same problem. So then I thing the problem is the webserver from pfsense, but when the page actually starts to load (not the stripped down version I included) it's very fast. So it seems the problem is in "redirecting" the client.

Does anyone has any idea how to solve this ?

Best regards,
Attilla
