Hello, you can also do this trick I'm using:
Install the full version edit: /etc/platform and change "pfsense" to "embedded" reboot voila! now you have a keyboard and vga, no writes to the disk but still no extensions :-( regards ----- Message d'origine ---- De : "Benson, Chuck" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> À : [email protected] Envoyé le : Mardi, 1 Mai 2007, 21h02mn 28s Objet : RE: [pfSense Support] Questions about Full Version versus Embedde d In addition, the embedded version uses an OS kernel that is built to run without a display card (serial console). As a result, if you poke around the web site, you will find that there are people running the embedded kernel with an otherwise standard install on a "diskfull" Soekris to get a serial console, full version. The full version, on the other hand, supports the addition of packages and definitely writes to disk during runtime operation. Are these the major differences between the two versions? --Vaughn On Tue, 1 May 2007 14:41:50 -0400, "Sean Cavanaugh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> said: > the embedded version is designed for a system that's running off of > Compact flash such as the WRAP and Soekris platforms so it does not write > anything to storage during runtime other than config changes. logs and > whatnot are (supposedly) written to a RAM temp location. think of it more > like the firmware that's running on a linksys router. > > the full version is designed for full servers with storage that's not > limited by how many writes it can do (flash, HDD, etc) and as such will > record logs to storage as well as support adding packages to extend the > functionality of the firewall. this would be more of a full software > firewall running on something like a 2U server from Dell or something. > > -Sean Cavanaugh > > > > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected]> Date: Tue, 1 May 2007 14:34:00 -0400> Subject: [pfSense Support] Questions about Full Version versus Embedded> > I have a few questions about Pfsense full versus Pfsense embedded.> > 1.
