Okay, I am a Sonicwall user who has discovered that he loves the web GUI
firewall thing. My problem is that while I can get my Sonicwall to work
beautifully, I cannot seem to make Pfsense do the same.

Here's my problem:

I have a computer set up with two NICs. Pfsense installed just fine and
I can access the gui, etc.
I added a NAT rule (and it automatically adds the firewall rule as well)
to allow access to my system within a certain port range.

I have DSL and I have the block of 8 static IP addresses, with 5 of
those being useable. The "modem" is in bridge mode and connects just
fine

The Pfsense machine is set then to connect using PPPoE and it connects
just fine, however, Pfsense does not allow manual assignment of the
gateway IP address given to me by the ISP. Instead the gateway address
is assigned automatically when I connect Pfsense.

For access I have tried both the "gateway" IP address (which again, is
auto assigned to the WAN port when I log Pf sense on via PPPoE).

I try my program that connects through my port range and it won't
connect.

I can ping my public IP from the LAN and I can surf the internet just
fine. But coming the other direction, nuthin'.

Any ideas? I'll take all the info you have to give.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Jim K.
