pftpx is the one of two ftp helper applications used in pfSense. pftpx
is the one that 90% of pfSense users use when they need the ftp helper
application. You can turn off the ftp helper application by navigating
to Interfaces -> WAN and Interfaces -> LAN and ensuring that the ftp
helper is disabled.
