Hello All,

my 1.2 setup on wrap would have various issues from time to time (due to what I think is power related - too many on/offs) the symlink to / cf would get corrupted and then need to be put in by hand...

So I decided to put 1.3 on a pc w/ a hd and wanted to report what went on.

The install went well, and I ended up w/ a working system ;)

The nat and rules that I put in worked ;)

The traffic shaping wizard however is different and I could never find one that worked successfully. (I have one wan and one lan) Using any of the 4 provided xml's my ruleset would never load. It would error out with problems on line 16 or 18 complaining about what looked like the hfsc entries. Could not find if hfsc is supported in the new. I simply chose the number of wans, set the bw up and down and selected vonage and to prioritize dns.

At which point I would need to reset back to defaults in order to get a usable system again.

Also the dyndns client seems to depend on dns, (duh) but it's called before the fw rules are parsed. So if you use an internal DNS resolver on the lan, dyndns client hangs the system at bootup b/c there is no dns allowed to pass. If you use ISP's resolver or other resolver than that of your local lan it all looked fine.

I ended up running the livecd and usb flash drive to keep the config.xml which seems to be working fine, except after about 20 minutes of running on the livecd the webif and sshd are inaccessable. Rebooting makes them accessable but only for a limited time. Going to the console I can see that lighttpd is running and listening as is sshd..

Overall the system is *much* more responsive and committing actions are quicker than on 1.2 ;)

I like the 'new' sysctl interface, and look forward to figuring out how the traffic shaper works ;)

fwiw, the system is a p3 550 w/ 384M 10G ide and 2x fxp
