I've had the same issue Sunday. Since the upgrade is disabled, I changed
the /etc/platform from embedded to pfSense (this from memory),
rebooted, and then upgraded the regular way. I've stayed on
the nonembedded platform (albeit changing the / to noatime) but
of course it's playing va banque with your flash. You can downgrade
back to embedded, IIRC (haven't tried). This is WRAP, not Soekris, but
it should be the same thing.

I've had a couple upgrades in the past where the system was wedged so
badly it had to be reinstalled from scratch. But it's been a while.

In any case upgrading a remote system hours away from you need to be
contemplated. Probably not a good idea to try on a drunk whim.
