You'll be fine with 10,000 users with enough hardware to handle the
throughput you require. If you mean using pfSense as a PPPoE server
for 10,000 users, I don't know if anyone has tried using it with that
many users. I'm not aware of anything that will prevent you from
having 10,000 users, but that may be an unknown. The similar sized
ISPs I'm aware of using pfSense don't use it as a PPPoE server. It'll
work fine for that kind of traffic levels. The PPPoE server is worth a
shot, it could very well work fine. Let us know how it goes if you do
try it with that many users.
