I have tried it, no luck... it is not in their service area. Even the external 
version is not close enough. 3G seems to be the only real option other than 
finding someone across the lake and relaying it across (not really an option).

Would the Rogers "Portable Internet" service work for you?
It looks like "plug box into wall, get RJ45 ethernet out the other side".
